Questions:

1. It is important to identify the plant/root correctly because it could result in severe illness or death. Some plants are poisonous or have toxic parts in them that you would not want to ingest or apply to parts of your body. To get adequate care for your illness or injury, it is important to identify the plant/root correctly.

2. If you are familiar with species and habitats in other regions, knowing what you need to treat yourself and therefore not causing potential harm to your body if you choose the wrong plant. There are many different habitats with so many different species of plants and if you find yourself in a region other than your own, it will be helpful to be educated on that area.

3. There would be a big difference if you were traveling in another season because plants have different blooming periods and at certain times in the year, crucial parts of the plant needed for treatment may not be available.

4. It would be very important to establish relations with local people because they would be very familiar with their own area and can provide help if needed, potentially saving you from using the wrong and maybe fatal plant to treat yourself.

5. I would not trust myself to treat an illness or disease without a reference text and even then there are so many species that look alike, there is ample room for error that could possibly be fatal. If I were in a life or death situation, I feel I do have some knowledge and would be forced to trust myself.
